The Silverthorne Story
Silverthorne was started in Petaling Jaya by a small group of practitioners who had spent years observing how families in Malaysia often struggled with the legal side of inheritance. Estate matters here involve a layered system — civil courts, Syariah courts, different statutes depending on religion and state — and many people found it hard to know where to begin or whom to trust with something so personal.
We set out to build a practice that focused purely on this area. Rather than offering a wide menu of legal services and treating inheritance as an afterthought, we decided to narrow our scope and go deeper. That decision shapes everything we do, from how we train our team to how we communicate with the families who come to us for help.
Over time, we have worked with families across Selangor and the Klang Valley, handling matters ranging from straightforward estate reviews to complex Syariah Court proceedings. What keeps us going is the knowledge that, for most of our clients, this is one of the most important processes they will ever go through — and we take that responsibility seriously.
Our office on Persiaran Tropicana is designed to feel less like a typical law firm and more like a place where difficult conversations can happen in comfort. We believe that matters of inheritance deserve patience and respect, not rushed consultations or impersonal service.

What Drives Us
Inheritance law in Malaysia is shaped by a combination of federal statutes, state enactments, and religious principles. Navigating this landscape calls for not only legal knowledge but also cultural sensitivity and patience. At Silverthorne, we believe that the best outcomes come from taking the time to understand each family's history, concerns, and goals before recommending a course of action.
Our focus on estate planning and succession has allowed us to develop a deep familiarity with the processes involved — from Faraid calculations in the Syariah Court to Letters of Administration under civil law. We work closely with families in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, and throughout Selangor, as well as clients from other Malaysian states who need representation in the region.
What sets our practice apart is a genuine commitment to making legal processes understandable. We take the time to explain not just what is happening, but why, and what it means for each member of the family. This approach has earned us the trust of the families we serve, and it remains the foundation of everything we do at Silverthorne.
