Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a Syariah Court estate proceeding typically take?
Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the estate and the court's schedule. Straightforward cases may conclude within three to six months, while more involved matters could take longer. We keep you informed at each stage and work to move things along as efficiently as the court allows.
What documents do I need to bring for an initial consultation?
It helps to bring identification, any existing wills or trust documents, property ownership records, and a list of known beneficiaries. If you are unsure what applies, just reach out and we will guide you on what to prepare.
Is a Lasting Power of Attorney relevant if I already have a will?
Yes. A will takes effect after passing, whereas a Lasting Power of Attorney covers situations where you are still living but may have lost the ability to make decisions for yourself. Together, the two instruments form a more complete plan.
How often should I update my estate plan?
We recommend reviewing your plan at least once a year, and also following major life events such as marriage, the birth of a child, acquisition of new property, or changes in the law. Our annual review service is designed specifically for this purpose.
What are your fees, and are there additional costs?
Our service fees are listed on the Solutions page. These cover our professional work. Court filing fees and government charges, if any, are separate and will be communicated clearly before we proceed. We do not charge unexplained add-on fees.
Is my personal information kept confidential?
Absolutely. All information you share with us is treated with strict confidentiality under lawyer-client privilege and Malaysia's data protection laws. We outline our data handling practices in our Privacy Policy.
